Affiliate Marketing - What Exactly is It? By Shane Lang

As you no doubt know there are many ways of making money online. However I'm going to show you what affiliate marketing is and how to get started but first I'll tell you what it isn't!

Affiliate marketing is NOT a get rich scheme. You will NOT earn a six figure income overnight and it DOES require hard work and consistency and for you to have the ability to take action.

Affiliate marketing is where a person who is an affiliate sells a merchants product or service and receives a commission from either the sale or by the merchant receiving a new lead or several other means. So to make money you need to send the customers to the merchant through your affiliate link. In turn you get paid (usually a percentage) for every sale you make through your link.

Now affiliate marketing is a very good way, perhaps even the best way to start an internet business because there are lot of benefits you can get from it, such as;

• Low overhead cost to start. You don't need to pay for an office or hire employees and you definitely don't need to have any inventory or stock.
• Can get started online with no money but only your time and energy if you so wish.
• It can provide you with a good passive income. Once you get a system up in place you can easily set and forget and still make money in months, perhaps even years to come.
• No need to create your own products. You can spend your time and energy promoting other peoples products instead of wasting your time and energy creating a product that might have no buyers.
• You can get started quickly. You can literally start promoting in 5 minutes or less.
• You can test a market to see if it's profitable with other people's products before creating your own.
• No support issues. You let the merchant take care of the customer. Your job is only to bring them in.
• Be your own boss working your own hours doing what you love. There are also some tax benefits in working from home as well.

However as with everything that has benefits there are downsides too which includes;

• You might be targeting a market or promoting a product with no buyers.
• Some merchants can decide to keep your commissions and not credit you for sales they made through you.
• Hijackers can hijack your customer by replacing your cookie with their own so that they will be credited with the sale and not you.

As you can see though the benefits far outweigh the cons and affiliate marketing is an excellent business model for anyone that wants to work from home and have a second income. Quite a lot of successful people are making an excellent living from affiliate marketing. With a bit of determination and action you will be making an income as well.

How to Improve Your Website By Arthur Cooper

Improving your website isn't simply about design or SEO (Search Engine Optimization). A properly implemented and tested website may be the single greatest effort you can make on behalf of your online business. Research shows that the vast majority of people who view your website will X out within ten seconds. This means that you must use your skill to catch the eye of a viewer and convince them to stay - all in less time than it takes to type a search term. Understanding the various aspects of a website and how they impact viewers can help you decide what your website should look like, how it should be set up and how you present information to viewers.

The overall look of your website is your first chance to impress viewers. Think of your website as your storefront. Just like an old-fashioned brick and mortar business, you want your viewers' first impression to be as positive as possible. To do this, create a website that is simple, clean, uncluttered and professional. Remember that everything from font choice to images can change how your site is viewed, so thoroughly test each aspect before going 'live.'

The next area to consider is the message your website imparts. Viewers want to know why they should stick around your site. Whether your site is designed to sell a product or service or if you are simply imparting a viewpoint or information, the message of your website must be clear. If you are not offering a product or service, the messaging portion of your website may be a bit tricky. Consider using language like 'Information," "help," or "opportunity" to clearly state your message.

Another easy way to lose visitors is a lack of speed. Be sure to work carefully with a designer to ensure your website loads as quickly as possible. Remember you only have about 10 seconds to grab the attention of a viewer and using up that time with a load screen just won't work. Consider avoiding 'tricks' like large flash pages for your front page - it will make your visitors happy. Load Time is also a new element that Google, for one, might be using to rank sites... makes sense from the human interaction perspective.
Pay careful attention to the overall layout of your webpage as well as what graphics you include. Choose images that impart your view or message to the viewer as quickly as possible. Use your layout to improve the ability of a viewer to quickly scan your page. It is a great idea to use bullet points, especially on your front page, to quickly show visitors what your message is.

Finally, be sure to make the navigation of your site as simple as possible. Visitors who are unsure as to what to do next are likely to jump ship quickly. Include a sitemap and select buttons that are clear and easy to find.
Remember that every word, picture and sound that you place on your website can change how a viewer thinks about you and your site. Make careful selections and tweak often for the maximum impact. Use Analytics Software such as Google Analytics so that you actually know what to tweak.

Beginner Internet Niche Marketing By Alexander Griswold

Internet marketing is all about finding a niche and providing it with the things they need. But before you pick a niche, it is helpful to understand what a niche is. It is easiest to start at the top.

Industries and Markets

An industry can be defined as a companies producing a particular type of goods. There are many types of industries. If you think in terms of trade publications, each trade publication represents a certain industry.

Each industry sells goods to a particular market. A market is a group of people who desire goods from a particular industry.

An example of an industry are companies that produce products for pets. Their market is defined as pet owners.

Niches

Using the pets industry example, there are markets defined by types of pets, for example, cats, dogs and fish. There are industries that make food for pets and industries that make products for pets such as collars and leashes, or aquariums.

An industry can can continually be segmented by the products groups and markets. Each product group can further be segmented by product groups and markets. And each of these can be further divided. At some point the industry can no longer be subdivided. This is know as a niche.

A niche is a small portion of an industry. An example niche in the pet industry would be dog training.

The market subdivides along with the industry. The market for the particular niche is a unique group of people looking for product specific to the niche.

In practice, a niche is really defined as the audience, or market for the goods, and not the other way around. If there were no market there would be no goods for the market.

Niches and Internet Marketing

To be successful in Internet Marketing, you need to focus on who your audience is and what they want. You need to target a particular niche.

One of the ways to select a niche for you to market is to find something that you are interested in. The more passionate you are about it, the better. The advantage here is that you are probably already an expert in the niche, and you know the audience.

If you are short of passion, another method is to find something which is popular at the moment. You will have a ready market. All that is left is for you to become a temporary expert in that niche.

Making Money on Internet: A Beginners Guide to Earn Money Through Internet

If you are looking for ways in making money on the internet for some extra cash or enough money to quit your job you have come to the right place. Searching for legitimate ways in making money on internet can be very frustrating. So many “opportunities” advertised to earn money through the internet these days are obvious scams or seem great on the outside, but once you sign up or pay for what ever they are offering only leaves you with less money and no further ahead than when you started. Here I will discuss some of the legitimate ways to earn money through the internet.

The quickest way to start making money on the internet is Adwords. Adwords are the advertisements that you see in the highlighted area on the very top and the right column of a Google search page. These ads also appear on many web pages and are grouped together with a header or footer that says Ads by Google. These are PPC (Pay Per Click) ads. You set up an account with Google, create an ad for a product to promote, then you have to bid on relevant keywords or phrases where you would like your ad to appear. How much you pay depends on how popular that search term is and what position you want your ad to be in. This type of marketing can be very profitable if done correctly.

Adsense is probably the simplest way to earn money through the internet. Adsense is allowing Google to put Adword advertisements or other advertising on your web pages. Google matches the ads content to be similar to what your web page is about. When someone clicks on those advertisements you get paid a sum of money that is added to your Google account.

Search engine optimization is the organic way of showing up in the search engine results. These are the web pages that appear on a particular search page with a short description of what that website or page is about. If you notice at the top of the page it will say for example, results 1 thru 20 out of 50,000. That means the search engine found 50,000 items on that particular search and they are showing you what they think are the best 20 results. You'll notice at the bottom of the page there are more pages of results for the rest of the 50,000 items. Your goal as an internet marketer or affiliate marketer is to show up on the first page of results so everyone can see what you are offering. There are many strategies, tips, and tricks to rank higher in the search engines. These days there is a web page for just about anything you can think of, which means there are endless amounts of products to promote and the list just keeps growing.

To be successful at making money on the internet you need to educate yourself as to what does and does not work. Check out forums, read as much as you can, and find an education program to learn from. Also, you must be patient. Except for Adwords the process does take time to get ranked higher in the search engines, but when you do your efforts will pay off. Internet marketing is a great way to work from home and be your own boss.
